Russia Seeks Benefits at the Alaska Summit
According to inkorr.com: At the summit taking place in Alaska, Russia is trying to buy time before a possible offensive in the fall of 2025. According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russian troops have intensified combat operations, including conducting infiltration operations in the Bakhmut area, as well as preparing drones and missiles for attacks on Kyiv.
'A German source with insider information told Reuters that Ukrainian officials warned their German counterparts on August 13 about Russian President Vladimir Putin's plans to use the summit in Alaska to ''buy time'' before a possible offensive in the fall of 2025.'
Deputy Chief of the GUR Major General Vadim Skibitsky noted that Russian troops plan to achieve their objectives in the Kupiansk, Chasiv Yar, Toretsk, and Pokrovsk regions by the beginning of September. Russia's plan to fully capture the Donetsk region has been postponed until the end of 2025. According to the general, these actions align with the assessments and statements of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov regarding Russia's military goals in Ukraine.
It is noted that the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reports: from the results of the Alaska summit, Russia has drawn certain conclusions and is preparing for a possible offensive in the fall of 2025, taking into account the strategic positioning of its troops and plans regarding Ukrainian territories.
