Kremlin Gives Ukraine a Two-Month Ultimatum: Withdraw Troops or Face Consequences.
Moscow's Demands
According to UATV: On March 31, the Kremlin issued an ultimatum to Ukraine, demanding the withdrawal of its forces from the Donetsk and Luhansk regions within 60 days. Failure to comply, Russia warns, will trigger new, harsher measures. This demand adds another layer to the already high tensions between the two nations. Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces continue to strike deep behind enemy lines, successfully hitting targets more than 2,000 kilometers away.
Record Losses for the Russian Military
April 2026 proved catastrophic for the Russian army, which suffered its heaviest casualties of the conflict so far—35,000 killed and wounded. These personnel losses were accompanied by massive equipment destruction, including:
- 1,875 artillery pieces
- 70 tanks
- 90 air defense systems
- 180 armored vehicles
These figures underscore the serious challenges Russia now faces on the battlefield.
On April 23, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that the war would end only if Ukraine pulled its troops out of four regions. Commenting on this stance, journalist David Satter remarked,
“This wouldn’t be negotiation—it would be the language of surrender disguised as diplomacy.”The situation remains tense, and the outlook for any future talks appears bleak.
The Kremlin’s ultimatum highlights the escalating nature of a conflict now in its third year, reflecting Russia’s strategic goal of territorial control. The staggering losses suffered by Russian forces point to serious difficulties on the front lines, which may shape Moscow’s next moves. As the international community watches closely, Ukraine holds firm to its position: defending its territorial integrity and national sovereignty.
