Symbiga on threats from Russia

On August 30, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andriy Symbiga noted during an informal meeting of foreign ministers from European Union countries in Copenhagen that Russia remains an existential threat to all of Europe and the transatlantic space, as reported by FREEДOM.

Symbiga emphasized the escalation of Russian attacks on Ukraine and expressed gratitude for the reaction and support from allies.

The minister also shared information about further aggressive plans of Russia and confirmed that Moscow shows no readiness for real negotiations or to end the war, continuing to issue ultimatums.

'Russia remains an existential threat to all of Europe and transatlantic space and does not abandon its aggressive intentions. It is important that no one harbors illusions. Strategies regarding Russia and the peace process should be realistic; they cannot be based on false assumptions,' the minister stated.

Calls to partners

Symbiga urged allies to intensify diplomatic efforts and emphasized that national security advisors are working on security guarantees for Ukraine.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also highlighted the importance of bilateral meetings between Ukraine and Russia, as well as with the involvement of the US president and European leaders.

He urged EU member states to enhance defense support for Ukraine and invest in the Ukrainian defense industry, particularly in drone production. The minister also requested to make more active use of SAFE and PURL mechanisms to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities and take 'decisive actions' regarding the use of blocked Russian assets for the defense and recovery of Ukraine.

'Putin must understand that continuing this war threatens both his regime and him personally. He either stops now or faces serious consequences. This is the strategy of peace through strength,' the minister emphasized.

Earlier, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak emphasized that Ukraine will emerge victorious from the war, calling on Western countries to pressure Russia to restore the negotiation process.

This statement by Symbiga confirms Ukraine's intention for active diplomacy and involvement of international support. Appeals to allies to strengthen defensive measures reflect Ukraine's desire not only to defend its independence but also to ensure stability in the region, which increasingly relies on international cooperation and unity against external aggressors.
