Investigation Underway in France

According to Espreso.tv: An investigation linked to corruption suspects Yuriy Horovyi and Vasyl Veselyi is progressing in the French town of Beaulieu-sur-Mer. Both individuals have connections to Ukrainian officials. The operation, code-named 'Midas,' was launched in 2024 following a 15-month inquiry that involved more than 70 searches. Authorities seized $4 million during these actions.

Yuriy Horovyi and Vasyl Veselyi are suspects in corruption schemes that also involve Andriy Veselyi, Vasyl's biological brother.

The irony is that some of the figures in the so-called Mindichgate are currently in pretrial detention.

He also reminded that 'Vasyl Veselyi also appears in the so-called Mindich tapes.'

Key Developments in the Investigation

In August 2022, law enforcement officials raided the enterprise 'Karpatnaftokhim,' which had funneled over 5 billion hryvnias to Russia between 2017 and 2022. In 2023, a court lifted the seizure of this enterprise. As Tkach noted:

However, ARMA later stated that it cannot find a new manager due to mistakes made by law enforcement.

Herman Halushchenko, a former minister of energy and justice, is also mentioned in the context of this investigation. Andriy Yermak, the head of the Presidential Office, was dismissed due to the 'Mindich tapes.' Mykhailo Tkach points out:

Not just the Veselyi brothers, but a sole proprietor from Drohobych who, in mid-2024, became a co-owner of the country's largest chemical enterprise, Karpatnaftokhim.

The ongoing investigation points to serious corruption networks that require further analysis and legal action.

This case underscores the importance of combating corruption in Ukraine, especially in light of the country's international reform commitments. The seizure of substantial funds and the ties to high-ranking officials reveal systemic issues that demand urgent resolution. Future steps in the investigation could impact Ukraine's political landscape as well as its relationships with international partners monitoring progress against corruption.
