Ukraine Intercepts Massive Russian Barrage: 447 Missiles and Drones Target Critical Infrastructure.
February 7th Assault on Ukraine
According to UATV: On February 7th, Russian forces launched a combined assault on Ukraine's critical infrastructure, deploying a wave of drones and missiles. Ukrainian air defense systems tracked a total of 447 incoming aerial weapons. The primary targets were in the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne, and Vinnytsia regions.
According to reports, Ukrainian defenses successfully intercepted or neutralized 406 of the 447 confirmed targets. The breakdown of downed threats includes:
- 24 missiles
- 382 unmanned aerial vehicles (drones)
The types of missiles identified in the attack comprised 2 'Zircon' hypersonic missiles, 21 Kh-101 cruise missiles, and 16 'Kalibr' cruise missiles. In total, 408 attack drones were confirmed to have taken part in this coordinated strike.
Previous Attack in Beryslav and Regional Context
This large-scale attack followed a separate incident on February 6th, where Russian forces used drones to strike an evacuation vehicle in Beryslav, Kherson region. Ukrainian defense forces, including aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare teams, and mobile fire groups, were actively engaged in countering the aerial assault. These relentless attacks highlight the volatile situation across Ukraine and the critical need for sustained defensive readiness. The ongoing conflict has seen Russia repeatedly target civilian infrastructure to disrupt energy and logistics networks.
The recent barrage underscores the continuation of Russia's strategic campaign to degrade Ukraine's critical systems. The high interception rate achieved by Ukrainian air defense demonstrates the growing capability of its armed forces to protect the country. However, the persistent scale of these attacks emphasizes the urgent need for continued international support to provide additional resources and advanced technology to sustain Ukraine's defensive capabilities.
