Russians increase pressure in northern Donetsk: Commander Syrsky on the situation at the front.
Ukrainian soldiers remain under pressure in the northern Donetsk region due to the intensified activities of Russian forces. Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky reported this after visiting the units currently defending this area, as reported by FREEДОМ.
'The situation is most tense in the areas of Pokrovs'ke, Dobropillia, and Novopavlivka. The enemy is also increasing pressure in northern Donetsk region, towards Lyman. Our military is currently engaged in heavy battles against numerically superior Russians, repelling their attacks and conducting active operations in some areas. The Armed Forces understand the great responsibility that lies on them and successfully fulfill the tasks assigned to them not only now but also in the future,' wrote Syrsky.
Yesterday, August 19, there were 175 combat clashes on the front line. Russian troops actively used multiple rocket launchers and other heavy weapons in the main directions. Throughout the day, enemy forces carried out 82 airstrikes on Ukrainian positions and civilian objects, fired 5,611 machine-gun bursts, and deployed 5,610 kamikaze drones.
Military expert Dmytro Snejyrev noted that Russian forces are trying to launch an offensive in the Volchansk direction, which is the shortest route to Kharkiv. However, there are currently no serious grounds to speak of an expansion of the enemy's zone of influence that would pose a threat to defense.
According to the Commander, the situation at the front remains tense, but Ukrainian soldiers are ready for any developments and to maintain the territorial integrity of the country.
