Kharkiv Region Hit by Russian Strikes: Two Injured and Widespread Damage Reported.
Strikes Target Kharkiv and Surrounding Region
According to Novyny.live: Russian forces launched attacks on the city of Kharkiv and the broader Kharkiv region over the past day, resulting in civilian injuries and significant damage to civilian infrastructure. According to regional authorities, two men were wounded in the shelling: a 58-year-old in the village of Dvorichnyi Kut and a 54-year-old in the town of Malynivka. The northeastern Kharkiv region, which borders Russia, has been a frequent target since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022.
Attack Details
The assault on the region included a missile strike on the Slobidskyi district of Kharkiv. The invaders employed a variety of weapons, specifically:
- one missile (type being determined)
- three guided aerial bombs (KABs)
- 13 'Shahed-136' type drones (referred to locally as 'Geran-2')
- one 'Molniya' type drone
- 29 drones (type being determined)
As a result of the attack, a civilian building and two cars were damaged in the city of Kharkiv, while an agricultural enterprise hangar was hit in the village of Hubarivka, Bohodukhiv district.
Furthermore, in the Kharkiv district, five private homes, an outbuilding, and two cars were damaged in the town of Peresichne. In the village of Dvorichnyi Kut, one hundred pigs were killed on a farm. In the Lozova district, the strikes impacted railway infrastructure, two apartment buildings, and five cars in the city of Lozova, as well as a private house in the village of Novoukrainka.
In the Chuhuiv district, a civilian enterprise was damaged in the village of Martove, a grain storage facility in the village of Pechenihy, and another civilian enterprise along with two cars in the town of Malynivka. It was noted that a powerful explosion was heard in Kharkiv on February 20th as a missile was heading toward the city. For the strike on Kharkiv on February 20th, Russian forces used an 'Iskander-M' type missile.
Consequently, the Russian attack on Kharkiv and its region led to extensive destruction and civilian casualties, highlighting the intense situation in the area. These events underscore the continuation of aggressive actions by Russian troops, which aim to destabilize Ukraine by targeting not only military objectives but also civilian infrastructure and populations. This ongoing pattern of attacks against urban centers deepens the humanitarian crisis and draws continued international condemnation.
