First Video Evidence: Russia Now Uses Shahed Drones as Carriers for FPV Units.
Shahed Drones Deployed in Ukraine
According to UATV: Video evidence has emerged for the first time confirming a new Russian tactic: using Shahed drones to transport FPV (First-Person View) kamikaze drones. Military specialist Serhiy Beskrestnov reported that the footage shows a strike drone carrying at least two smaller attack drones. This follows earlier observations of factory-made mounts for similar purposes on other Russian drone models, such as the Molniya and Gerbera.
Escalating Drone Threat
Recent attacks have resulted in a rising civilian casualty count. In Zaporizhzhia, seven people were injured, while one person was wounded in the Chernihiv region. Furthermore, in Mykolaiv, located in the Odesa region, a private house was destroyed by a drone strike. These incidents underscore the growing threat posed by unmanned aerial vehicles in the ongoing conflict. The use of drones as carriers for other drones represents a significant evolution in battlefield tactics, potentially increasing the range and complexity of attacks. This development highlights the urgent need for enhanced air defense measures and the protection of critical infrastructure. The increasing civilian toll demonstrates the severe risks to non-combatants, demanding proactive responses from both the Ukrainian state and the international community to counter these evolving aerial threats. The conflict has seen a continuous drone arms race, with both sides rapidly adapting their technology and tactics.
