Russians caught in their own trap in Kursk: details from Forbes.
A hostile column got stuck in anti-tank traps in Kursk, which the Russians built before the Ukrainian invasion in early August. Forbes reports.
Russian troops, likely from the 15th brigade, counterattacked the Ukrainian salient in the Kursk region on September 29 or shortly before that date. The attack, aimed at the Ukrainian-controlled village of Plekhovo at the southern edge of the salient, failed in the most ironic way. Thus, the Russian column got stuck in the anti-tank traps. These are trenches and a strip of concrete obstacles built by the Russians before the Ukrainian invasion of Kursk in early August.
Outside of Plekhovo, there are two main Russian defensive structures – anti-tank traps and an infantry trench complex nearby. During the attack, the Russians had difficulty passing through the anti-tank traps when the Ukrainian 129th Territorial Defense Brigade launched a wave of explosive drones.
Ukrainian journalist Yuri Butusov reported on his Telegram channel on September 29 that in the area of the village of Plekhovo, drone operators from the 129th Territorial Defense Brigade
gave a lesson to the Russian occupiers and their equipment – they burned dozens of armored vehicles and eliminated enemy personnel.
It should be noted that American analysts from ISW explain that the Russian Federal Security Service poorly coordinates the actions of regular Russian troops in the Kursk region, as it has experience in conducting special operations against small terrorist groups, not regular troops conducting combined attacks on the front.
Recently, it was reported that the Ukrainian Defense Forces continued offensive operations along their salient in the Kursk region. Meanwhile, the Russians recaptured more than 10 settlements.
It is worth noting that the Russians failed the Kremlin's plan to recapture the Kursk region by October. Now Russian dictator Vladimir Putin demands the FSB to correct the mistakes.
According to Bild's estimates, the major Russian offensive in the Kursk region ended in failure.
