Ukrainian military forces have advanced about 30 km deep into Russia's territory in the Kursk region. The Russians, in turn, are building new defense lines near the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant (NPP). This was reported by the BBC, citing aerial photos.

The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the Russians repelled attempts by Ukrainian forces to break through in the areas of the villages of Tolpino and Obshchy Kolodez in the Kursk region, which are about 25 and 30 km from the Russian-Ukrainian border. This, it was noted, indicates the advancement of Ukrainian troops deeper into the Kursk border region.

Internet-published and journalist-verified footage also shows a Russian military strike near the village of Levshinka, which is about 25 km from the border.

In Sumy, which borders the Kursk region, BBC correspondents witnessed the constant movement of armored personnel carriers and tanks toward Russia. White triangular identification marks were placed on the armored columns to distinguish them from equipment used in Ukraine.

Aerial photos also appeared, showing Ukrainian tanks engaged in battles on Russian territory.

The photos also show that Russia is building new defensive lines near the Kursk NPP. It is noted that Ukrainian forces have advanced to a distance of 50 km from this facility.

Comparing satellite images of the same place on Saturday and a few days earlier shows that several trenches were recently built nearby, the closest of which is about 8 km from the station.

The photos themselves are not being published.

Let us remind you that Russian soldiers are preparing to defend the Kursk NPP due to the approach of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF). According to journalists, Russian security forces blocked access to the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant on Friday after noon.

It is known that Vladimir Putin held an operational meeting with permanent members of the Security Council due to the offensive on the Kursk region. The Russian Ministry of Defense also acknowledged that the fighting in the Kursk region of Russia reached the city of Sudzha.

In addition, the Russian Ministry of Defense allocated an additional multiple rocket launcher system, artillery, and heavy tracked equipment to destroy UAF units in the Sudzha region.

Notably, analysts reported that Russia likely declared a counter-terrorism operation (CTO) to mitigate the consequences of the Ukrainian invasion of the Kursk region. ISW notes that this decision is intended to prevent internal panic and reduce negative reactions.
