Russia Targeted Sumy Railway with Shahed Drones

According to Novyny.live: A Russian attack on railway infrastructure in the Sumy region has left a female operator dead and a dispatcher hospitalized with injuries. Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, head of Ukraine’s state railway company Ukrzaliznytsia, confirmed that the injured railway worker underwent surgery. The explosions occurred at a station where a mobile shelter had been set up on the premises to protect staff.

On June 10, a Russian Shahed drone was shot down over the station building in the city of Sumy. Debris from the drone fell onto passenger train No. 143, igniting the roof of the last car. The following day, June 11, occupiers struck a locomotive depot in Konotop, killing another female railway employee and leaving four workers with severe burns. These incidents highlight the ongoing danger to railway staff and operations in the region.

Oleksandr Pertsovskyi commented on the situation, stating: 'Deadly enemy strikes on the railway infrastructure of the Sumy region continued this night.'

These events underscore the persistent threat to railway infrastructure in the region, which remains vulnerable to attacks by Russian forces.

Safety of Railway Operations in Sumy Region

Currently, the situation in the Sumy region raises serious concerns about the safety of railway operations during wartime. Regular attacks on railway facilities indicate a deliberate campaign by Russian forces, endangering not only workers' lives but also the continuity of transport services in the area.

Given the constant shelling, the importance of mobile shelters and security measures on the railway has become even more critical for protecting civilians and infrastructure.
