Sloviansk Targeted in Airstrike

According to UATV: A Russian airstrike on the city of Sloviansk on March 3rd resulted in one man killed and two others wounded. Russian forces dropped three FAB-250 aerial bombs on a residential district, causing partial damage to 63 private homes. Three of these houses were completely destroyed. This attack is part of a wider pattern of strikes on urban areas in eastern Ukraine.

Residents Describe Harrowing Ordeal

Witnesses to the attack described a terrifying experience. One resident recounted:

'A woman was trapped under slabs in the house at the end of the street. Rescuers pulled her out using jacks. They saved her.'

Another local shared his story: 'I went to sleep in my semi-basement room at 10:30 PM. I have a small window there. At 10:45 PM—two explosions, houses destroyed. I had to wake up and find another place to sleep. I found the bathtub.' He also noted that 'people live here. They moved from somewhere else and were staying with relatives. The strike also damaged two cars.' The use of powerful unguided bombs in populated areas has become a grim hallmark of the conflict.

This tragedy underscores once more the severe consequences of military actions for civilians, who suffer from violence and destruction. The situation in Sloviansk remains tense as residents attempt to cope with the aftermath of the attack. It is crucial to note that such incidents not only cause physical damage but also inflict deep psychological trauma on local inhabitants, forcing them to live in constant fear of new strikes. Authorities and humanitarian organizations must take urgent measures to provide aid to the victims and restore the damaged infrastructure.
