Russian Drone Strikes Destroy Train Station in Shostka and Ignite Fuel Station in Sumy.
Moscow’s Military Operation on May 30 Targets Civilian Sites
According to Novyny.live: On May 30, Russian forces launched drone attacks on a railway station in Shostka and a gas station in Sumy, completely leveling the station and sparking a blaze at the fuel facility. According to reports, no one was present at the gas station during the strike, so there were no casualties.
The destruction of the Shostka station resulted from a Shahed drone assault, which caused extensive damage to the building and its infrastructure. Ukraine’s state railway company, Ukrzaliznytsia, has warned that suburban train schedules may face adjustments as a result of this incident.
Impact on Local Infrastructure
The Russian attack on the Sumy gas station triggered a fire, but it did not endanger any lives because the facility had no customers at the time of the strike.
“No one was injured—everything is fine, we got through it,” stated Ruslan Kurylo.
These events unfolded amid a broader Russian assault on the Sumy region, particularly targeting the Shostka community. The situation remains tense, and local residents are closely monitoring developments that could affect their safety and daily routines.
The strikes on Shostka and Sumy highlight the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine, where civilian infrastructure frequently becomes a target. The destructive outcomes of such attacks can seriously disrupt transportation networks and the local economy. Emergency services and municipal authorities are working to restore normal operations, but civilian safety remains the top priority as the threat level continues to rise.
