Russian hackers attempted to breach EU diplomats using a fake wine tasting.

According to a study by cybersecurity company Check Point, the hacker group Cozy Bear, associated with Russian intelligence agencies, tried to deceive European diplomats by sending them malware disguised as an invitation to a wine tasting. They sent fake invitations to various diplomatic events, including a wine tasting, attempting to pose as a large European Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This campaign targeted diplomatic institutions, including embassies of non-European countries located in Europe. Some emails had links that led to the download of malware, while in other cases, the links redirected to the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which the hackers tried to simulate.

Unfortunately, this is not the only case of cyberattacks. Recently, hackers attacked Ukrzaliznytsia. The website and application of Ukrzaliznytsia were restored after 89 hours of continuous work following an attack on their operating systems. Additionally, the Russian oil company Lukoil fell victim to a large-scale hacker attack.
