Russian Internet providers are losing clients due to the slowdown of YouTube in Russia, reports The Moscow Times.

Internet providers claim that the restriction of YouTube is discriminatory and violates the competition protection law.

Propagandists assert that the slowdown of the video platform's performance is related to external influence exercised through the GRCHC.

The Association of Russian Providers emphasizes that there is no measure such as performance slowdown in the Russian legislation, and YouTube is neither banned nor restricted in access. Therefore, GRCHC and Roskomnadzor have no right to take actions to restrict access.

The Association has requested to open a case on the violation of antitrust laws. The consideration period is a month with the possibility of extending the term by another two months.

Problems with Video Playback

In Russian browsers, video is not played in high quality. This was reported by TASS. Users of Google Chrome, Opera, Mozilla Firefox, and Mi Browser cannot watch videos in good quality. Safari in the mobile version redirects to YouTube.

A YouTube representative stated that all functions are working normally on their end.

Earlier, the head of the State Duma Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Khinshtein warned that the speed of YouTube loading on stationary computers in Russia could decrease by 70%.
