Occupants have abducted over 50 civilians in Sumy region: among them is an 89-year-old woman.
According to ТСН: The situation in the border areas of Sumy region remains tense. The enemy is not only shelling the positions of Ukrainian troops but also putting pressure on the local population, forcing them into deportation.
The situation on the battlefield
According to a representative of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian troops have launched an offensive in the area of the village of Grabovske, crossing the state border. Under pressure from the enemy, the defense forces had to leave some positions.
Currently, as Lykhoviy noted, stabilization measures by Ukrainian troops are ongoing in this area.
Who was abducted by the Russians
Among the most painful consequences of the enemy attacks are the abductions of people. After capturing the village, the occupants forcibly transported to Russian territory more than 50 civilians of Ukraine.
The military indicates that almost all of these people refused evacuation to safer regions, despite the authorities' appeals. Among them are mostly elderly men and women, one of the abducted women is 89 years old.
Reactions and appeals
The law enforcement agencies of Ukraine have already started an investigation into the forced deportation of the civilian population. The Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasize that such actions are a direct violation of the Geneva Convention, which protects civilians during war.
The military once again urges residents of border areas not to risk their lives and to evacuate. According to the Sumy authorities:
Over 30 thousand people have already been evacuated.
About 5700 people (including 38 children) still refuse to leave their homes, putting themselves in mortal danger or captivity.
It should be noted that on the night of December 20, Russian occupants entered the border village of Grabovske, which is located less than 200 meters from the state border. According to local media, from this settlement, they transported to Russian territory more than a hundred residents for so-called “filtering measures.”
The situation in Sumy region illustrates the serious challenges faced by local residents. The danger not only from military actions but also from the threat of forced deportation makes life in the border areas particularly difficult. The evacuation of people remains extremely important, and the authorities hope that more citizens will choose to leave dangerous zones to avoid irreparable consequences. Only by joint efforts can this horrific process be stopped and a safer future ensured for all.
