Officers Killed in the Strike
The two officers who lost their lives were:
- Yuliia Keleberda, aged 23;
- Yevhenii Kalhan, aged 39.
Another police officer was wounded in the same attack. The 'White Angels' are specialized police evacuation teams that perform the critical and dangerous mission of rescuing civilians and providing aid in frontline areas. These units operate under constant threat in the ongoing conflict.
This tragedy underscores the extreme dangers faced by first responders and law enforcement personnel performing their duties in the war zone. The targeting of a clearly marked evacuation vehicle raises serious concerns about the safety of such humanitarian operations.
The incident highlights the persistent threats to personnel engaged in life-saving missions. The deaths of these officers are a profound loss and emphasize the urgent need for enhanced protective measures for aid crews operating in hazardous environments. It also calls into question the effectiveness of existing safeguards for those providing assistance in active combat areas.
