Ongoing Threat from Russia's Black Sea Fleet

According to Novyny.live: Despite suffering significant losses, Russia's Black Sea Fleet continues to pose a serious danger to Ukraine, particularly through its ability to launch sea-based 'Kalibr' cruise missiles. The fleet has relocated its vessels to Novorossiysk, allowing Moscow to maintain a military foothold in the region. Intelligence indicates that Russia can launch dozens of 'Kalibr' missiles simultaneously, creating substantial risks for Ukrainian cities.

Retired Captain 1st Rank Andriy Ryzhenko has stated that Russian forces could concentrate up to 60 'Kalibr' missiles in a single salvo. This highlights the potential threats from the Black Sea Fleet's operations, even as its overall strength has been diminished.

'The core combat group of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, now stationed in Novorossiysk, is weakened—but it still represents a very serious threat to us.' Andriy Ryzhenko

Moreover, Russian surface ships and submarines have the capacity to launch around a hundred missiles at Ukrainian cities, further elevating the danger level. It is worth noting that while the 'Kremniy' plant in Russia has been severely damaged and taken offline, this has not reduced the fleet-based threat. Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) has also struck the Yevpatoriya aircraft repair plant and military equipment near Dzhankoy, demonstrating active Ukrainian countermeasures against the threat.

'We can hit them with missiles even while they are stationed at their base. The problem is we don’t have those missiles right now. As for the drones we do have, it’s easiest to strike a target when it moves beyond the defense perimeter of the Novorossiysk base.' Andriy Ryzhenko

Why Constant Monitoring Matters

This information underscores the critical need to monitor and respond to Black Sea Fleet activity, as the threat from Russian forces remains very real.

The situation with the Black Sea Fleet is of paramount importance for Ukraine's security, as the presence of 'Kalibr' missiles in the region could significantly alter the strategic balance. Ukraine's SBU has been actively targeting military installations in Crimea to reduce the threat level, but considerable challenges persist. With the danger ever-present, maintaining high vigilance and readiness to respond remains essential.
