Deadly Assault on a Public Bus in Kherson

According to UATV: On July 1, 2023, at 7:00 AM, Russian forces struck a minibus in Kherson, killing two people and wounding 11 others. At the time of the attack, the bus carried more than ten passengers. The blast primarily hit the section where a woman named Tetiana was seated with her daughter.

Among the wounded, one woman was in critical condition and underwent surgery. Victims suffered from mine-blast injuries and multiple shrapnel wounds.

“We were standing at the bus stop. After the strike, we started pulling people onto the bench. The bus caught fire, and I put it out,” said witness Serhii.

This incident occurred amid ongoing hostilities in the region, where civilian infrastructure has repeatedly come under fire.

Further Attacks and Aftermath

Throughout the day, Kherson faced continued assaults, including a strike on the city center. During the second attack, another woman was killed, and over ten people were injured.

“At first, I tried to pull her out of the minibus, thinking she was alive,” recounted Tetiana Peshik.

Medical teams provided care to the victims, with seven patients transported to hospitals, ranging in age from 35 to 65–70 years.

“The injuries are varied,” commented Dr. Yevhenii Oleksandrov.

This tragedy underscores the ongoing danger faced by Kherson’s residents amidst active combat operations.

In this case, the attack on a public bus serves as a stark example of the toll military actions take on Ukrainian civilians. The safety of non-combatants remains at risk, especially in areas with active fighting. These events highlight the urgent need to protect civilian populations and provide immediate medical care for those affected by the conflict.
