Drone Strike Hits Apartment Building in Kramatorsk, Leaving Several Injured.
Ongoing Attacks in Donetsk Region and Their Toll
According to UATV: Russian forces continue their bombardment of the Donetsk region, specifically targeting the cities of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk, resulting in casualties and injuries. On June 16, a drone attack struck a multi-story apartment building in Kramatorsk, injuring four people. The projectile hit the residential structure, sparking a fire that quickly spread.
According to local residents, the flames engulfed the sixth and ninth floors of the building.
“The fire burned from the sixth to the ninth floor. The strike landed between the fifth and sixth floors, and that's where it initially caught fire,” said Kramatorsk resident Olha. Another resident, Yana, described her rescue: “I moved to the neighboring balcony. My husband saved me.”
Current Situation in Kramatorsk and Sloviansk
Kramatorsk has been repeatedly targeted, enduring 26 such attacks in recent weeks alone. These latest assaults have damaged six apartment blocks and ten private homes in the city. The situation in Sloviansk remains equally dire: shelling there has killed three people and wounded eight others, while 117 private houses have been damaged.
The attacks are being carried out using Smerch multiple rocket launchers and FAB-250 aerial bombs, underscoring the intensity and scale of the offensive in this area. The region remains under severe strain, with local residents continuing to bear the brunt of the aggression.
These events highlight the severity of the humanitarian crisis in the region, where civilians are becoming victims of military operations. The relentless shelling is taking a heavy toll on residents, who are forced to live in constant danger and instability. Given the high frequency of attacks, local authorities and international organizations must take urgent steps to protect the civilian population and provide humanitarian aid.
