Strike on Zaporizhzhia

According to Novyny.live: On July 4, Russian forces launched at least five attacks on the city of Zaporizhzhia, leaving several people injured and causing the partial collapse of a multi-story apartment building. According to Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, the strikes damaged both the residential structure and a nearby parking lot. Three people were reported wounded, including a child.

The attack caused the building's first through fifth floors to cave in, and also destroyed a section of the exterior wall. By the morning of July 4, the number of injured had risen to eight, among them two children. Additionally, windows and parked cars in the lot were damaged.

Shift in Russian Military Tactics

Vitaliy Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, noted that Russian forces have altered their strike strategy, increasingly targeting sites such as:

  • gas stations
  • warehouses
  • civilian facilities containing flammable materials

This tactical shift has raised concerns among local residents and increased risks to civilians.

The attack on Zaporizhzhia is part of an ongoing escalation in the conflict that has now persisted for over a year. The change in Russian tactics, focusing on civilian infrastructure, may indicate an effort to destabilize the situation in Ukraine and heighten psychological pressure on the population. In wartime, both physical safety and the morale of people living under constant threat remain critical.
