Disclosure of bank secrecy at PrivatBank: the bank urgently appealed to clients.
PrivatBank responds to rumors about the disclosure of bank secrecy
PrivatBank has published a statement in which it responds to widespread rumors about the disclosure of bank secrecy within the framework of the 'National Cashback' program. This information is found in the bank's official message dated December 3, 2024.
The largest state financial institution in Ukraine emphasizes that it only transmits information about transactions related to expenses or returns of goods in stores that are registered as sellers of Ukrainian goods. According to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Resolution No. 952 dated August 20, 2024, such data transmission is consistent with the legislation.
'The bank cares about the security of bank secrecy and personal data of its clients and acts solely within the framework of the law,' the PrivatBank representatives stated.
According to the statement, Ukrainian legislation stipulates that to open an account for 'National Cashback,' every user must provide written consent to disclose bank secrecy.
The discussion on the issue of disclosing bank secrecy began after the founder of monobank, Oleg Gorokhovsky, addressed the provision in PrivatBank's contract regarding the disclosure of payment transaction information.
Member of the profile committee, Yaroslav Zheleznyak, confirmed that the Cabinet of Ministers' resolution requires obtaining consent for the disclosure of bank secrecy.
