Intelligence reported which settlements will become the next target of the Russians after Vuhledar.

The Russian army may attempt to capture the village of Velyka Novosilka in the Zaporizhzhia region and the city of Bohoyavlenka in the Donetsk region. This information was provided by the British Ministry of Defense intelligence.
It is quite likely that Russian forces will attempt to continue advancing beyond Vuhledar in the coming weeks.
Intelligence indicates that the Russians may attempt to capture the village of Velyka Novosilka in the Zaporizhzhia region to the west of Vuhledar. There is also a possibility of capturing the city of Bohoyavlenka, which is located to the north.
Earlier, the commander of the 24th Separate Assault Brigade "Aidar" Stanislav Bunyatov stated that after the capture of Vuhledar, the Russian invaders would try to take the city of Kurakhove.
On October 1st, it became known that the Russian army occupied Vuhledar in the Donetsk region. According to ISW, the occupiers gained control over the city, most likely due to the retreat of Ukrainian forces. According to analysts, Ukrainian troops withdrew from Vuhledar in a planned manner to avoid encirclement. Russian sources claim that the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces began as early as September 30th.
On October 2nd, the higher command confirmed that it had authorized the withdrawal of Ukrainian defenders from Vuhledar. This was done to preserve personnel and combat equipment.
The process of evacuating wounded troops from Vuhledar in the Donetsk region was complicated, but the withdrawal from the city allowed Ukrainian troops to minimize losses, reported the press officer of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine named after the Black Zaporizhians, Arsenii Prylipka.
