Escalation of the conflict between Russia and NATO
According to The Sun: After the recent intrusion into NATO's airspace, Russia has clearly outlined the boundaries of a possible conflict with the West.
Dmitry Medvedev, whose party is close to the Kremlin, stated that any attempt by the West to shoot down Russian drones in Ukraine will lead to a full-scale conflict between NATO and Russia.

Poland's Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski insisted that allies begin shooting down Russian drones and missiles over Ukraine.
“The implementation of the provocative idea of Kyiv and other idiots about establishing a no-fly zone over Ukraine, allowing NATO countries to shoot down our UAVs, will mean only one thing – war between NATO and Russia,” Medvedev stated.
He also added that such an action by NATO would be considered active and direct intervention in the conflict.
“NATO is effectively participating in this war,” noted Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
Polish authorities reported that they had recorded 19 violations of their airspace, prompting the country to escalate its military response.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stressed that these incidents have brought the country closer to military conflict than ever since World War II.

In response to the violations, up to 4 drones were shot down with the help of NATO allies. This was the first instance of NATO directly engaging with Russian troops since the start of the war in Ukraine in 2022.
According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, a Russian drone crossed Romanian airspace for 50 minutes, which was a 'test' by Russia of the allies' response.
Romania sent two F-16 fighter jets to monitor the intruding drones.

“Russia's intrusion into Romanian airspace is a gross violation of EU sovereignty and a serious threat to regional security,” emphasized European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
In the UK, the Russian ambassador was summoned to the foreign office over the 'unprecedented violation' of NATO airspace.
Polish authorities also announced the deployment of NATO troops to Poland in response to Russia's actions.
