Samsung introduces Galaxy XR for $1800: twice as cheap as Apple Vision Pro.
According to Korrespondent.net: Samsung officially unveiled the Galaxy XR headset, which will compete with the Apple Vision Pro.
Technical Specifications
The device runs on Google's Android XR operating system and Qualcomm's Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 platform. The headset provides up to two hours of active use or 2.5 hours of video playback.
The micro OLED screen has 27 million pixels, which is six million more than the Vision Pro. The resolution is 3552×3840 pixels, and the refresh rate is 90 Hz (compared to 120 Hz for Vision Pro). The Galaxy XR is equipped with two cameras for live streaming, six cameras for motion tracking, and four for eye tracking. It weighs only 545 g, while the Vision Pro weighs between 750 and 800 g.

Ergonomics and Features
Samsung notes that the lightness and balance of the design have been achieved through optimized ergonomics, which ensures even weight distribution between the forehead and the back of the head, reducing pressure on the face.
The headset supports specialized apps from Google, including Maps, YouTube, Circle to Search, and Photos. Users can access Google Gemini for navigation in 3D maps, searching for videos, or obtaining additional information about content. An available mode allows users to see the real world around them, enabling them to draw an object with their hand to retrieve data via search.
For entertainment, the Galaxy XR supports 4K streaming content through the Micro-OLED display. Services like Crunchyroll, HBO Max, and Peacock have already adapted their apps for Android XR.
Price and Availability
The Galaxy XR is already available in the USA and South Korea for $1800, which is almost half the price of the Vision Pro. The presentation of the Galaxy XR took place just a week after the announcement of the updated Vision Pro version with the M5 chip.
