Security Service of Ukraine Brings Charges Against Blogger

According to Novyny.live: Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) has leveled charges in absentia against a 38-year-old blogger from Kharkiv who relocated to Russia after the full-scale invasion began and subsequently spread pro-Russian content. Operating under the alias Lankarra, he consistently justified the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, prompting a criminal investigation.

According to officials, the blogger's online platforms collectively reached approximately 500,000 users. SBU investigators have charged him under Article 436-2, Part 2 of Ukraine's Criminal Code, which criminalizes the justification or acknowledgment of aggression as legitimate. A search of his residence uncovered:

  • a car
  • two sport motorcycles
  • a share in an apartment

City Council Member Also Under Investigation

Separately, a Kharkiv city council deputy has been charged with organizing the illegal cross-border travel of men subject to military conscription for $17,000. These cases highlight the range of offenses tied to the ongoing war in Ukraine.

The charges against the pro-Russian blogger reflect an intensified crackdown by Ukrainian law enforcement on information threats and propaganda that could undermine national security. Meanwhile, the case involving the city council member points to corrupt schemes exploiting the conflict for personal gain—a serious crime during wartime.
