Ukraine’s SBU Releases Footage of 'Alpha' Unit Striking Crimea’s Air Defenses and Airfields.
Special Operations Center 'Alpha' Scores Major Hits
According to UATV: On June 24, 2023, Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) reported that its Special Operations Center 'Alpha' successfully struck air defense systems and military airfields in Crimea. During the operation at the Saky military airfield, four hangars used to store aircraft were destroyed.
Near Kerch, Ukrainian special operations forces hit the following targets:
- two S-400 surface-to-air missile systems;
- two Pantsir-S1 surface-to-air missile and gun systems.
This marks the fourth S-400 system taken out by the SBU’s 'Alpha' unit in the same area. In addition, special operations forces attacked a railway bridge crossing the North Crimean Canal.
“Russian occupiers are losing control over the skies of Crimea,” the SBU stated.
These Ukrainian military actions could significantly alter the dynamics of combat in the region. By degrading Crimea’s air defense and airfield infrastructure, Ukraine is limiting Russia’s ability to secure airspace and support its ground forces. The strikes on critical assets also reflect Kyiv’s strategic approach to intensifying pressure on occupation forces and reclaiming territorial control.
