Russian Agent Who Targeted Kyiv and Guided Missiles Toward Ukrainian Air Defenses Arrested by SBU.
Arrest of Individuals Collaborating with Russian Intelligence
According to Espreso.tv: Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) has detained a woman accused of passing sensitive information about Ukrainian military assets to Russian intelligence. Her activities included revealing the location of a mobile air defense team in Chornomorsk, which she communicated to Russian handlers in April 2026 after first contacting them via Telegram in December 2025.
The suspect played a role in one of the largest Russian strikes on Kyiv on May 24, 2026. She was apprehended while setting up a new observation post. During searches, authorities seized two smartphones, a laptop, and handwritten notes. She has been formally charged with high treason committed under martial law, a crime that carries a potential life sentence and asset forfeiture.
Prevention of Terrorist Acts
In a separate operation on the same day, the SBU detained an 18-year-old male near a Ministry of Defense facility. Additionally, the agency thwarted a planned terrorist attack in central Kharkiv by recruiting an unemployed individual via Telegram. These actions highlight the SBU's intensified efforts to counter national security threats and prevent terrorist activities on Ukrainian soil.
The arrests of individuals collaborating with hostile intelligence services underscore the critical role of SBU operations in safeguarding the state during armed conflict. Heightened activity by Ukrainian law enforcement to detect and neutralize threats reflects escalating regional tensions and the need for internal stability. These cases also point to increased Russian reconnaissance efforts within Ukraine, demanding reinforced security measures.
