Ukrainian Security Service Strikes Crimean Airfields: Seven Hangars Hit and Aircraft Destroyed.
Attacks on Airfields in Crimea
According to UATV: Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) carried out strikes on two key Russian-occupied airbases in Crimea: Saky and Hvardiiske. These facilities serve as critical aviation hubs for Russian occupation forces in the region. During the assault on the Saky airfield, seven hangars were hit, housing Su-30SM, Su-30, and Su-24 fighter jets and bombers. As a result, at least seven aircraft were either destroyed or damaged.
Impact on the Military Situation
The Hvardiiske airfield also came under attack, with two hangars struck. These hangars contained Shahed unmanned aerial vehicles and aviation equipment. These actions highlight Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to degrade the military capabilities of Russian forces in occupied Crimea and underscore the strategic significance of these airbases for both sides in the conflict.
These strikes on Crimean airfields could significantly shift the regional military dynamics, as reducing the number of available aircraft and drones among Russian troops may limit their battlefield activity and effectiveness. This operation also reflects Ukraine’s continued commitment to defending its sovereignty and reclaiming control over its territory. Such bold measures serve as a key element in the broader conflict, demonstrating Ukraine’s readiness to take decisive action against aggression.
