August 2025: prices for meat and milk soared by 20% and this is not the end.
According to inkorr.com: In August 2025, a significant increase in food prices produced by local manufacturers was recorded in Ukraine. Wholesale prices for meat and meat products rose by 23.4%, while domestic prices increased by 23.8%. Export prices also grew by 12.7%.
Prices for dairy products increased by 17.7%, with domestic prices rising by 18.7%, and export prices by 5.8%. Bread and bakery products became more expensive by 15.5%, with domestic growth at 15.1% and export growth at 24.2%.
Experts emphasize that the wholesale increase in product costs is gradually reflected in retail prices in stores, and this process has a time lag of several months. This means that Ukrainian consumers may feel the price increase even more acutely by the end of autumn.
Sugar - an exception
Amid the overall rise in prices, sugar stands out, as its price decreased by 8.8% in August, with a drop in the domestic market of 8.7%. It is also worth noting that record prices for Ukrainian apples have stunned even Europeans.
Therefore, the overall increase in food prices in Ukraine in August 2025 was substantial, especially regarding meat, dairy products, and bakery items. Although the price of sugar has decreased, the overall trend of rising product prices may hit Ukrainian consumers even harder in the future.
