Scandal during the match: a red card for a kick in a sensitive area
According to The Sun: Footballer Nikushor Bank received a red card during a recent match for a strike against an opponent's 'private parts'. His opponent, Daniel Armstrong, was left unpunished, even though he provoked the incident by stepping on Bank.
Digi SportDaniel Armstrong seemed to have stepped on Nikushor Bank. Digi SportBank responded by hitting Armstrong. This incident occurred during a Romanian Premier League match, where Bank's team, Universitatea Craiova, was playing against Dinamo Bucharest. At that moment, the Universitatea team was leading 2-1 in the 65th minute of the game.
The left-back collided with Armstrong after battling for the ball. As soon as the ball slipped away, both players ended up on the ground.
When Armstrong got up, it looked as if he had stepped on Bank's chest. In response, Nikushor likely struck Armstrong in the 'private parts'. This caused intense pain for the 27-year-old footballer.
“Bank's gesture is also disgusting. Either both players should be sent off, or both should receive yellow cards,”– commented analyst Ionut Angeluta.
The refereeing provoked outrage among local analysts. After checking VAR, Bank received a red card, while Armstrong went unpunished.
“It is absurd to send off only Bank. I don’t understand how Armstrong's gesture went unnoticed,”– added Angeluta's colleague, Andrei Tivilici.
Dinamo opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a goal from Alexandru Mushi, but quickly conceded an equalizer from Samuel Telesu. After the break, Universitatea regained the lead, this time thanks to Juraj Badel.
However, despite the red punishment for Bank, the home team tried to hold onto their lead. Ultimately, in the 90th minute, Alexandru Pop managed to equalize, and the game ended in a 2-2 draw.
This incident highlights the importance of proper refereeing in football and may impact player suspensions in the future. Fans and commentators are outraged by the referee's decisions, which may lead to further discussions about rules and ethics in sports.
