New European Security Threats Highlighted by Ukraine's Foreign Minister: NATO and EU Membership Essential.
Andrii Sybiha Delivers Keynote at 'Security Architecture' Forum
According to Novyny.live: Speaking at the 'Security Architecture' forum in Kyiv, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha outlined emerging security challenges across Europe. He made clear that full membership in both the European Union and NATO is non-negotiable for Ukraine. As he stated,
“there can be no alternative to Ukraine’s full membership in the European Union.”
Sybiha emphasized that Ukraine already plays a central role in safeguarding European security. He called for the establishment of a Special Tribunal in The Hague to prosecute the crime of aggression, underscoring Ukraine’s commitment to justice and accountability. The minister also highlighted a technological transformation in Ukraine, drawing a parallel to the early IT boom in California’s garages.
Security and Integration Priorities
A key point in Sybiha’s address was his assertion that
“our security is indivisible.”He warned that the threat from Russia will not simply vanish once the war ends, stressing the need for a comprehensive regional security approach. The minister declared that ‘the era of paper guarantees is over,’ signaling the demand for more robust and effective security mechanisms.
The 'Security Architecture' forum served as a critical venue for debating Europe’s security challenges and reaffirming Ukraine’s push for deeper integration into European institutions and long-term regional stability.
Sybiha’s participation in the forum highlights the urgency of security issues for Ukraine amid its ongoing war with Russia. The goals of EU and NATO integration reflect Ukraine’s determination to strengthen its international standing, especially as threats escalate. The push for a special tribunal also underscores the importance of accountability in restoring trust in international institutions and processes.
