Sikorski: Russia's military defeat corresponds not only to the interests of Ukraine, the EU, and the USA but also to the Russian people.
The victory of Ukraine is of great significance for all
Every defeat of Russia is subordinate to the will of the people and stimulates the implementation of reforms and transformations. This was stated by the head of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Radoslaw Sikorski, during a panel discussion in Davos. He emphasized that Russia's defeat in the war with Ukraine is significant not only for Ukraine and its allies but also for Russia itself.
'The President of the United States has given an ultimatum to Putin - create conditions to end this war… It is Time to come to an agreement, or the United States and President Trump will become tougher. We are now in a better position than we were 48 hours ago. We must also remember - when Russia suffers a defeat in war, as happened in the past during the Crimean War, the Russo-Japanese War, after World War I, after Afghanistan, and after losing in the 'Cold War', reforms always occur in the country. Therefore, Ukraine's victory is crucial not only for Ukraine and the European security architecture but also for Russia and its people,' Sikorski stressed.
Sikorski also noted that Putin is making the same mistake that the former leadership of the Soviet Union made. He is turning Russia into an antagonist for many countries, including former friendly states. Sikorski emphasized the need to reduce Russia's capacity to cause harm through hybrid warfare.
The head of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs also noted that Poland fulfills its obligations and supports Ukraine. He hopes for the beginning of the negotiation process regarding Ukraine's accession to the EU.
