Ukrainian Drone Units Strike 47 Targets in Crimea and Russia: Tankers, Oil Depots, and S-400 Systems Hit.
Strikes by Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces
According to UATV: On July 6, 2023, the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched attacks against 47 enemy military targets in occupied Crimea and on Russian soil. Among the assets hit were two fuel tankers, each with a capacity of 7,000 tons, along with oil facilities and surface-to-air missile systems.
Primary Targets of the Strikes
Specifically, strikes targeted an oil depot in Kerch, as reported by Robert 'Madyar' Brovdi, who stated:
“In Kerch, an oil depot was hit” – Robert 'Madyar' Brovdi
During the attack, two S-400 'Triumph' surface-to-air missile systems positioned in the Bryansk region were also destroyed, as was a 'Neva-U' radar station located in Crimea. Brovdi added:
“During the missile attack on Ukraine, two launchers of the long-range S-400 'Triumph' surface-to-air missile system were struck and destroyed at a firing position in the Bryansk region and in a shelter in Crimea, along with the 'Neva-U' radar station in Crimea” – Robert 'Madyar' Brovdi
Additionally, strikes were carried out against oil refineries in Russia, including:
- The Slavneft-YANOS refinery in Yaroslavl
- The Novatek-Ust-Luga refinery in Leningrad Oblast
This operation was conducted by the 414th Separate Brigade of the SBU 'Madyar’s Birds', the 9th Battalion 'Kairos', Unit '13', and the 413th Separate Regiment of the SBU 'Reid'.
As a result, on July 6, Ukrainian forces inflicted significant losses on the enemy by striking key military and industrial facilities.
This operation highlights the growing ability of Ukrainian military forces to operate over long distances and concentrate strikes on strategically important enemy assets. Hitting targets such as surface-to-air missile systems and oil depots can substantially impact Russia’s military capabilities and the supply of resources needed for combat operations. At the same time, these actions underscore an escalation in the conflict and potentially increased risks for civilians in the region. For an English-speaking audience, this event illustrates how Ukraine is leveraging advanced drone technology to disrupt Russian logistics and air defense networks far behind the front lines.
