Ukrainian Drone Forces Score Major Hits

According to UATV: On March 28, 2023, Ukraine’s unmanned systems units successfully struck multiple Russian military targets, including the destruction of mobile drone launchers at the Donetsk Airport (DAP) site. These operations are part of a broader campaign to degrade the enemy’s combat capabilities.

During March 2023, two Russian surface-to-air missile systems—the Tor-M2 and Tor-M1—were eliminated, marking the 29th and 30th such losses for Russia’s air defense network. In addition, Ukrainian forces destroyed:

  • an electronic warfare and ammunition depot in the settlement of Luhanske;
  • a fuel and lubricants storage site in Aidar, located in the temporarily occupied part of Luhansk Oblast;
  • a logistics and ammunition warehouse in Mangush;
  • communication towers and relay nodes in the same town;
  • a Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer in a different occupied area of Luhansk Oblast.

These strikes highlight the growing effectiveness of Ukrainian drone operations on the front lines, potentially shaping the trajectory of future combat. The elimination of key Russian military infrastructure—such as air defense systems and ammunition depots—reflects Ukraine’s strategic approach to reducing the enemy’s battlefield potential.

Destroying critical components of Russia’s military apparatus, including missile defense systems and supply caches, demonstrates Ukraine’s methodical effort to weaken the adversary’s fighting strength.
