According to Novyny.live: In Ukraine's Odesa region, a man has been sentenced for fatally stabbing his mother during a fight in a park. The incident occurred on December 19, 2025, in the town of Ananyiv. During the altercation between the man and his mother, she was stabbed in the thigh. She died at the scene due to severe internal bleeding caused by the wound.
The court classified the defendant's actions as negligent homicide. As a result, he was sentenced to 5 years in prison but was immediately released on a 2-year probation period. The victim in this case was the defendant's grandmother.

The defendant stated he did not intend to harm his mother, claiming:
“I only wanted to fend off my opponent and did not foresee the consequences.”
