Weather Outlook for Late June and Early July

According to Espreso.tv: According to forecaster Natalia Didenko, the final days of June 2023 will bring intense heat across Ukraine. Western regions are expected to see temperatures between +33°C and +38°C, while the north will experience +30°C to +34°C. In Sumy Oblast, the mercury will range from +27°C to +29°C, and central areas will face +30°C to +35°C. Eastern regions will be slightly cooler at +26°C to +29°C, with the south also reaching +30°C to +35°C.

Despite the scorching conditions, the evening of June 29 may bring thunderstorms to the north, west, and parts of central Ukraine. In Kyiv, rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds is forecast for that evening. However, June 30 will be dry in the capital, with temperatures climbing to +34°C. As Natalia Didenko noted:

After several days of high heat, a cooldown is predicted to begin on July 2 in western areas, spreading to the rest of Ukraine by July 3–4.

“The heat will persist for a while, with some relief arriving on July 2 in western regions, and on July 3–4 across the rest of Ukraine,” said Natalia Didenko.

How the Heat Wave Could Affect Life in Ukraine

The sharp temperature rise at the end of June may impact various aspects of daily life, from agriculture to energy demand. The heat places extra strain on power grids due to increased use of air conditioners and cooling systems. While the forecasted thunderstorms could offer brief relief, they also pose risks of localized flooding and damage, particularly in urban areas.
