Scandal on 'The Bachelor'. After being ousted from the show, a contestant accused the creators of sexism.
Journalist and blogger Marichka Dovbenko, a participant in the project "Bachelor 13", accused the creators of the reality show of sexism and emphasized that the girls are "exploited in a sexual context, and they are forced to remain silent".
Marichka Dovbenko, a well-known blogger with her own YouTube channel "In bed," decided to speak out about sexism on the "Bachelor 13" project. She noted that all the girls are subjected to sexual exploitation, and they cannot speak openly about it.
Marichka Dovbenko is famous for her interviews with celebrities, which she conducts right in bed. Her show has already hosted guests like former presidential office adviser Oleksiy Arestovych, politician Olena Shulyak, chef Yevhen Klopotenko, former foreign minister Pavlo Klimkin, controversial blogger Koriachka, and others.
Recently, Marichka participated in the "Bachelor 13" project and organized a meeting with bachelor Oleksandr Teren in the same format as her interviews. However, the main character of the show expressed his dissatisfaction with the format of the acquaintance. After that, Dovbenko left the show and commented on this decision publicly.
When you come to the project and tell the main character - veteran Oleksandr Teren, that you can comfortably lie in bed and film interviews like I do. And he asks: "How many interviews did you film without the camera?" Is that sexism? "The Bachelor" is a sexist show. But is there a limit? And it's the things you don't see on screen that break that boundary. Girls are forced to remain silent by the contracts they sign to participate in the show. Otherwise, they face hefty fines. - the blogger shared on her Instagram page and recorded a new episode of her project with former "Bachelor" contestants.
Dovbenko also shared feeling humiliated during her participation in the show. She said she wanted to scream about everything she saw there. But upon reading the contract, she realized that would be very costly.
Marichka decided to talk with other "Bachelor" contestants who are now able to share their experiences on the project. She invited "Bachelor-1" winner Sasha Shulhina and the eighth season winner Ivanka Honcharuk, as well as Dana Ohanska, Yulia Kucherenko, and Nastya Kuzmitska from season 12. The conversation with the participants appeared on her YouTube channel "In bed."
The girls revealed that during their participation in the project, they were psychologically pressured to always be engrossed in the project and not get distracted by other things. They noted this was a trick to fully immerse the participants in the project. Meanwhile, the bachelor lived his normal life outside the show.
The girls also shared that after the show ends, they are not allowed to share their version of events. But Oleksandra Shulhina, a participant from the first "Bachelor", is able to do so as her contract term has expired.
The first episode of "The Bachelor" - I was told to go to the balcony, bring the bachelor, and kiss him. I said I wouldn't do it. Then the girls were told to jump in the snow, some did it, but some refused. We had the chance to refuse, but we were threatened. I recall a conversation about Marina and the child when we raised the topic of the child's mother. We were told: if you don't bring up this topic, we'll kick you off the show - Shulhina shared.
Currently, the creators of the project have not yet responded to Dovbenko's accusations.
It is also worth noting that the new hero of the "Bachelor" show is Oleksandr Budko, a battalion commander of the "Karpatska Sich" rifle battalion. He lost both limbs in the war but continued to lead an active life. He participated in various competitions and runs his YouTube project "Leg Drop, or All Inclusive."
