According to ТСН: The Minister of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sybiga commented on the incident involving the bullying of the daughter of former Ukrainian national volleyball player Yuriy Hladiy, 15-year-old Daria, at a prestigious high school in Warsaw.

In his statement on social media, he emphasized:

“It is unfortunate that we have to return again and again to cases of disgraceful treatment of Ukrainians in Poland. But the treatment of Daria is categorically unacceptable.”

Diplomatic actions

Sybiga noted that during a recent meeting with his Polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski, which took place during President Zelensky's visit to Poland, he discussed this issue. Sikorski assured that the Polish side is responding and will respond to this situation appropriately.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed:

“Our peoples and our countries deserve good neighborly relations of strategic partnership. It is in our common interests to prevent and respond to such hostility.”

Call to action

The minister emphasized the importance of just punishment for those who show xenophobia towards Ukrainians both in Poland and in other countries. He expressed the opinion that

“The Ukrainian people certainly do not deserve such treatment. I believe that several demonstrative cases of accountability for such actions can show everyone else that such behavior cannot and will never be the norm in a civilized European society.”

Sybiga also instructed all consular institutions to pay special attention to such cases and respond promptly to protect the rights of Ukrainians.

It was previously reported that in one of the Polish schools, a teacher referred to Ukrainian students as “trash” and incited other children to aggression, resulting in Ukrainians experiencing physical violence. This incident became a vivid example of the problems and discrimination faced by Ukrainians abroad.
