Apple presents iPhone 17 and Apple Watch 11: what to expect from the September premiere

There is about a month left until the traditional September event, where Apple plans to showcase over seven new products. The focus is on the iPhone 17 series, Apple Watch Series 11, and other updates to the lines and software.

iPhone 17 Lineup

The new generation of smartphones will be one of the biggest updates.

The base iPhone 17 is set to be released with a larger display, a 24-megapixel front camera, ProMotion support, and an Always-On display. The family will include a brand-new iPhone 17 Air model, which will focus on an ultra-thin body with a 6.6-inch panel, an A19 chip, and a single main camera. The professional versions have also been revised: the iPhone 17 Pro transitions to a 'bar' design for the cameras instead of the usual protrusion, receives the A19 Pro, a 24-megapixel front camera, and a 48-megapixel telephoto, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max echoes these changes and adds a slightly thicker body for better battery life.

Apple Watch Series 11

After a significant leap last year with Series 10, this year's Apple Watch Series 11 is positioned as a planned update.

A faster S-series chip is expected for improved performance and energy efficiency, as well as the inclusion of a modem with 5G support while maintaining the current sizes and design. The company continues to work on blood pressure measurement; however, it is currently unknown if this feature will make it to the public release this year.

Apple Watch Ultra 3

The premium Ultra line will receive more significant changes for the first time since its debut in 2023. The case, according to preliminary data, will remain familiar, but the display will become slightly larger — 422x514 pixels compared to the current 410x502, thanks to thinner bezels. The list of innovations includes satellite communication for going beyond cellular and Wi-Fi networks, a new S11 chip, and 5G, as well as potential expansion of 'pressure' capabilities on par with Series 11.

Apple Watch SE 3

The most affordable watch from the brand will also receive an upgrade and will be refreshed for the first time since 2022 to its third generation. The models are rumored to have an updated design possibly replacing aluminum with plastic, a new processor, and larger displays of approximately 1.6 and 1.8 inches, referring back to the dimensions of the Series 7-9 era.

Final releases of iOS 26, iPadOS 26, watchOS 26, macOS 26, tvOS 26, and visionOS 26

The operating systems announced at WWDC in June have already gone through the stages of developer builds and public beta versions in July. The full release is expected in September, so the software updates will be launched simultaneously with the hardware premieres.

What may be shown but released later

In addition to the main September novelties, Apple has products in the pipeline that may appear on stage but will reach the market later.

Apple is preparing to present the next generation of iPhones and Apple Watches, as well as new versions of software for its devices. The updates promise more features, better design, and improved performance. The company is also working on some additional products that may be presented later.
