A Soldier in Lviv Region Sentenced to 5 Years for Desertion.
A soldier has been held criminally liable by a court ruling in the Lviv region. The man left his place of service without permission from the command and did not return for nearly four months.
The decision of the Yavoriv District Court of Lviv Region was made on August 13.
Case Details
According to court documents, a native of Kerch, who was serving on mobilization, deserted the military unit on November 7 last year and evaded service until February 26 of this year.
Court Decision
During the trial, the defendant admitted his guilt and expressed a desire to return to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The court found the man guilty and sentenced him to five years in prison. The sentence will begin from the date of arrest - February 26.
The court decision can be appealed within 30 days from the date of proclamation. Until then, the soldier will remain in custody.
It should be noted that in Poltava region, a soldier paid 255 thousand hryvnias to remain serving in the rear and was fined.
It is also known that in Kharkiv, a soldier of the Armed Forces hit a police officer in a bus and will spend three years in prison for it.
