Sony and Honda unveiled the electric crossover Afeela: what we know about the novelty

According to Korrespondent.net: The joint venture Sony Honda Mobility presented a prototype electric crossover under the Afeela brand at CES in Las Vegas.

This new vehicle is a crossover version of the Afeela 1 sedan, deliveries of which are planned to begin later this year. The production model will not appear until at least 2028 and will initially target the American market. In form, it is more of a raised sedan than a typical SUV.

The design of the crossover is done in a minimalist style typical of Afeela: smooth surfaces, minimal lines and angles, and the absence of visible door handles. Visually, the prototype closely resembles the Vision-S 02 concept, which Sony showcased at CES 2022. Although the design is difficult to call emotional, the car looks modern and stylish.

Technical specifications of the production version have not yet been disclosed. However, it is known that the previous concept had a length of about 4.9 meters, a wheelbase of over 3 meters, 20-inch wheels, and a weight of almost 2.5 tons. Prices have not been announced yet, but as a reference, the Afeela 1 sedan in the USA starts at $89,900, while the top version Signature costs over $102,000.

It was previously reported that Honda presented its 'key' electric crossover.

The Afeela crossover emphasizes Sony and Honda's desire to integrate innovative technologies into new vehicles, focusing on consumer needs. In light of the active development of electric mobility, this model could become an important step for companies in the American market, seeking new ecological solutions. Time will tell if Afeela can carve out its niche among competitors.
