The USA apprehended Maduro in Venezuela: how a secret special operation was prepared.
According to ТСН: The USA carried out a large-scale special operation in Venezuela, resulting in the apprehension of the country's president Nicolas Maduro along with his wife. The operation was the result of prolonged secret preparations.
Elite units of the US armed forces, including Delta Force, played a key role in planning the operation. To prepare for the assault, an exact replica of Maduro's residence was created, and scenarios for entering the building were repeatedly practiced.
Since August, a small group of the US Central Intelligence Agency operated in Venezuela, gathering information about Nicolas Maduro's daily routine. The intelligence also had an agent from his inner circle, which allowed for tracking the president's movements.
Code Name of the Operation
The operation was given the code name Absolute Resolve. It was conducted with the participation of more than 150 aircraft and helicopters, including F-35 and F-22 fighter jets, as well as B-1 strategic bombers.
US Military Presence
The US increased its military presence in the region by deploying aviation, drones, electronic warfare systems, and special operations helicopters. On the eve of the operation, the CIA conducted an attack on port infrastructure related to drug trafficking, which was part of the pressure strategy. The total number of American military personnel in the region surpassed 15,000.
On the night of January 3rd, several explosions were heard in Caracas. By order of the US president, military facilities in Venezuela were targeted, including the La Carlota and Fuerte Tiuna airbases, the La Guaira seaport, as well as the defense minister's house and the El Volcan antenna.
Apprehension of Maduro
Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores were apprehended and taken to the USA. They faced charges of drug terrorism, cocaine importation, illegal possession of machine guns and explosives, as well as conspiracy against the USA.
The American authorities did not disclose information about Nicolas Maduro's detention location. According to Sky News, Maduro will appear in court in the coming days.
In a conversation between Donald Trump and Nicolas Maduro in November 2025, the US president made it clear that the Venezuelan leader had limited time to voluntarily resign from his position.
This special operation underscores the increased activity of the USA in Latin America and their efforts to combat drug trafficking, which has long been a problem for the region. The results of the operation may have serious consequences not only for Venezuela but also for the international political situation as a whole.
