Four years after Sony announced its plans to create its own electric car, the Afeela 1 model has transitioned to pre-production, reports T3. This means that samples are currently being produced for final testing before mass deliveries begin.
After a long wait, Sony has finally released the first electric cars for testing. The Afeela 1 model is already in pre-production and is now undergoing final tests before being mass-produced. The cars are manufactured at Honda's factory in Ohio, USA, allowing Sony to save on its own factories and hasten the production process.
Technical specifications and features of the Afeela 1
The technical specifications include two electric motors with 240 hp each, a 91 kWh battery, a range of about 480 km, and fast charging capabilities of up to 150 kW. The Afeela 1 is designed for tech-savvy consumers, equipped with 40 sensors, a powerful computing unit, and impresses with a variety of multimedia possibilities.
Available versions and pricing for the Afeela 1
The final version of the Afeela 1 was already showcased at the CES exhibition in January. Prices start at $89,900 for the Origin package and $102,900 for the Signature. Orders are already being accepted, with a deposit option of $200. The first Afeela models may appear by the end of this year, with customers receiving them in mid-2026.
