According to ТСН: In Copenhagen, residents and visitors of the capital witnessed a unique natural phenomenon: dolphins were spotted in the waters of the local port. This event has already been called historical for the internal waters of Denmark.

Dolphins in the harbor

Initially, scientists thought that bottlenose dolphins had entered the harbor, but after careful analysis, whale specialist Karl Kinze confirmed that these are common dolphins (Delphinus delphis).

“This is a real sensation. Such a sight has never been recorded in the internal Danish waters before,” emphasized the scientist.

Marine biologist Michael Hansen believes that the dolphins may have entered the center of Copenhagen in search of food. They were likely hunting for schools of herring, cod, or haddock, which are currently present in the port waters. Thanks to echolocation, these skilled hunters can easily navigate even in closed harbors.

The queue of those wishing to see the dolphins

The news of the rare guests has caused a real stir. Despite the winter chill, hundreds of people flocked to the embankment. Biology students and teachers left their work to see the dolphins with their own eyes. Local residents, dressed in warm jackets, waited for hours by the water hoping to capture a good shot.

It is hard to say whether the dolphins will stay in the harbor for long. Biologists recall the famous dolphin Delle, who lived near Svendborg for several years, but note that these guests may have already returned to the open sea. In any case, this visit has become the main event of the week for Copenhagen.

This rare case with the dolphins has not only attracted the attention of local residents but has also become a basis for scientific research. Perhaps this behavioral phenomenon will become the subject of more detailed observations in the future. Furthermore, it reminds us of the importance of protecting the marine environment and sustainable interaction with nature.
