According to UATV: The United Kingdom is sending 6,000 Martlet missiles to Ukraine, where they will be deployed specifically to intercept and destroy Russian unmanned aerial vehicles. With an effective range exceeding 6 kilometers, these weapons are expected to significantly boost the performance of Ukraine’s air defense network.

Ukraine’s Air Defense Success Rate

In May of this year, Ukrainian air defense forces achieved an interception rate of over 88% against incoming missiles and drones during intense combat operations. Over the same month, Ukraine’s defense units eliminated more than 59,000 aerial targets, highlighting the country’s growing ability to counter airborne threats.

“This weapon system has already proven its effectiveness in real combat scenarios,” said Wes O'Donnell.

The arrival of the Martlet missiles is part of a larger effort by Western allies to support Ukraine amid ongoing Russian aggression. Strengthening air defense not only helps Ukraine neutralize drones but also enhances the overall security of its airspace—a critical factor in modern warfare.
