The USA imposes quarantine on Venezuelan oil: what it means for Maduro

According to ТСН: The White House has asked the US military to focus on implementing a so-called "quarantine" on Venezuelan oil for at least the next two months.

According to Reuters, Washington insists on increasing economic pressure through sanctions rather than taking military action. The administration's press service is convinced that the already implemented measures have seriously undermined the financial stability of the government of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

Economic crisis and sanctions

American experts believe that if Caracas does not make "serious decisions", the country may face significant economic difficulties by the end of January.

Blockade of oil tankers

At the beginning of December, US President Donald Trump announced a complete ban on oil tankers subject to sanctions from entering or exiting Venezuelan ports. He also noted that the US is ready to increase its military presence around Venezuela until Caracas returns the "oil, land, and other stolen assets".

Washington emphasizes that these actions are part of the sanctions policy, not a military blockade in the traditional sense. However, in reality, such steps significantly complicate the export of Venezuelan oil and strengthen the international isolation of Maduro's regime.

US military presence

There was previously information that the US has intensified its military presence in the Caribbean Sea near Venezuela, relocating aircraft with special forces units and military equipment.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that the United States will continue to detain oil tankers leaving Venezuela or heading to its ports until the country's authorities return "all stolen American assets".

These actions are viewed as part of a broader US strategy aimed at exerting pressure on Maduro's regime. The developments surrounding Venezuelan oil could significantly affect the economic situation in the country and international relations.
