Zelensky on the detention of Maduro: The USA knows what to do with dictators.
According to ТСН: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the events in Venezuela, where American special forces conducted an operation to detain the country's leader. He drew parallels, hinting at the need for decisive actions against other authoritarian regimes around the world.
President's Comment
Volodymyr Zelensky stated during a briefing:
‘Well, how should one react here? What can I say? If this can be done to dictators, then the United States knows what to do next.’
Situation in Venezuela
In Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, explosions were heard in the morning, and planes were spotted in the sky. In response to these events, the country's president Nicolas Maduro signed a decree declaring a state of external attack throughout the country. He also ordered the implementation of national defense plans ‘at the appropriate time and under appropriate circumstances’.
Statement by Donald Trump
Donald Trump, in his post on Truth Social, announced the detention of Nicolas Maduro and his removal from the country. Trump noted that the USA dealt a significant blow to Venezuela. The president was detained at his residence, and Trump published a photo of the politician aboard the American aircraft carrier USS Iwo Jima.
Trump also added that the United States will take control of Venezuela until the situation is stabilized and will be prepared for the second stage of military operations if necessary. He emphasized that during the nighttime raid, American troops largely ‘put out the lights of Caracas’ and Washington will not allow interference from other parties in the power transition process.
This situation in Venezuela has drawn significant attention from the international community. Ongoing conflicts and political instability in the country have long raised concerns among many states. The comments of the President of Ukraine only underline the importance of global support for democracy and reforms in crisis-affected countries.
