Ukrainian Special Operations Forces Destroy Russian Missile Command Post in Crimea and Ammunition Depot in Zaporizhzhia.
Strikes on Military Targets in Crimea and Zaporizhzhia
According to Novyny.live: On March 17, 2026, Ukraine's Special Operations Forces carried out attacks on Russian military assets in occupied Crimea and the Zaporizhzhia region. These operations successfully eliminated key military objectives, including a command post for missile systems and an ammunition storage facility.
The strike in Crimea targeted a missile system command post located in Verkhnokurganne. During the mission, a mobile enemy fire group was also hit. Additionally, a drone operated by the Special Operations Forces struck a camouflaged component of an S-400 surface-to-air missile system. These actions highlight the precision and effectiveness of Ukrainian forces, demonstrating their readiness to execute complex tasks.
Attacks in Zaporizhzhia and Their Strategic Importance
The operations were not limited to Crimea. In the settlement of Terpinnya, Zaporizhzhia, an ammunition depot belonging to Russia's 58th Combined Arms Army was struck. These strikes aim to weaken the enemy's military infrastructure and reduce its combat capabilities. As noted by representatives of the Special Operations Forces,
“the systematic targeting of the enemy's layered air defense system significantly undermines its ability to control the airspace”.
It is worth noting that Russia has reinforced its air defense systems in Crimea since the occupation, making operations in the region more challenging. Nevertheless, the actions of Ukraine's Special Operations Forces demonstrate their ability to successfully carry out missions even under enhanced air defense conditions. This reflects the adaptability and professionalism of Ukrainian troops, who continue their fight to regain control over Ukrainian territory.
These strikes by Ukrainian Special Operations Forces are part of a strategic campaign aimed at reducing Russia's military capacity in occupied areas. Amid the ongoing conflict, such operations could play a critical role in shifting the regional balance of power and boosting the morale of Ukrainian soldiers and civilians. Successful missions may also influence decisions by Ukraine's international partners regarding continued support against aggression.
