It became known when the permit for weapons will appear in 'Diia'.
According to Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Leonid Tymchenko, by the end of January next year, the permit for weapons will be displayed in the 'Diia' application.
During the year of the Unified Register of Weapons' operation, the police received over 483,000 applications for permits. Out of these, more than 469,000 decisions were made to grant the respective permits.
Currently, the National Police of Ukraine holds over 1.4 million units of weapons. More than 750,000 units, which represents over 50% of all registered weapons by the police, have been entered into the Unified Register of Weapons.
According to Tymchenko, the full launch of the Unified Register of Weapons will occur when the last paper permit is converted to electronic format - in June 2026.
It should be noted that the exact amount of weapons that may be in the possession of the population of Ukraine is unknown. But, according to Bohdan Drapiatyi, Ukrainians may possess between two to five million units of unregistered firearms.
Recently, the 'Diia' application introduced the possibility to join the Drone Army. After submitting an application, the person will join the selected unit and undergo basic military training with an already signed contract. Suitability for service is confirmed at the application submission stage, so there is no need to go through the VLK.
It should be noted that the Verkhovna Rada adopted bill No. 9538, which grants civilians the right to own and use firearms and ammunition obtained from the Ministry of Internal Affairs for protection against the armed aggression of the Russian Federation.
